Beverly Hills Window Tinting
SANIBEL, FL (March 5, 2014) - The buildings and many of the furnishings at the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village are over 100 years old. They have been preserved under the protection of the museum for years. However, until now, there has been no barrier to protect these priceless relics from the harsh UV rays shining through the windows. In February, the museum decided it was time to take action. Fort Myers Window Tinting Company, Beverly Hills Window Tinting, was contracted to install solar window film on all of the museum and village windows that receive direct sun. The project was completed on February 14th.
“Our collections are in un-air conditioned buildings,” said Donaldson. “This was one way for us to protect the valuable interiors a little better than we had been. We have no insulation, so the window tinting was an attempt to at least give our buildings and interiors a chance against the Florida heat and UV rays.”
Chris Russo, Owner of Beverly Hills Tinting, added, “This was a very rewarding project, and we are grateful that we had the opportunity to help the museum preserve these priceless furnishings and artifacts that contribute to the area’s rich history.”
Working on buildings from this era did present some challenges, but Beverly Hills Tinting was still able to complete the project with great precision.
Russo explained, “The fact that the windows are so old and worn, meant that they were not perfectly flat and even. This made it more challenging to apply tinting than an average modern home’s windows. Our technicians also had to be extremely careful of their surroundings, so as not to disturb the old artifacts.”
For this project, two different Vista tinting films were used. On the School House and Bailey’s store, a film called “Vista V38 Mirage” was used. This film provides a total solar energy rejection of 55% UVA and 99.9% of UVB rays.
On the Bernap Cottage, Tea Room, Post Office, Model-T Garage, and Morning Glory windows, a Vista V48 film was used. This provides a total solar energy rejection of 47% UVA and 99.9% of UVB rays.
Dorothy added, “Our staff and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with Beverly Hills Tinting. The technicians were very efficient, came when they said they would, and finished the job by the estimated date. They did an incredible job, were very careful when working around the valuables, and also cleaned up very well after themselves.”
